National Startup Day 2024

• Felicitation of Faculty-Led Startups: Faculty members who successfully converted innovations into startups were felicitated by the Director General of PDEU, Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, and the Directors of the university's four schools. The session emphasized the critical role of research and development in connecting academia with industry. • Round Table Talk: Chaired by Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, the conference featured an exchange of experiences among startups, where founders shared their entrepreneurial learnings, challenges, and rewards. Mr. Abhinav Kapadia, Director PDEU IIC commenced the formal session with a welcome address. He provided insightful remarks on PDEU and PDEU IIC’s commitment to incubating innovative startups, and shared the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurial journey.

  The event was then followed by an exchange of experiences, prompting startups to share their invaluable learnings with their peers. Startups like TorchIT and Imagine PowerTree showcased their transformative solutions through insightful presentations.

  University of Houston delegation, deeply impressed by the caliber, expressed their willingness to connect the faculty-led startups with relevant individuals and resources, paving the way for potential future collaborations. In conclusion, the presence of esteemed guests, impactful presentations by established and faculty led startups proved to be an invaluable experience.

• Classroom Sessions: More than 20 startups participated in sessions, providing over 300 students with insights into the startup journey from initial stages to triumph. Participating founders represented companies such as Amounee Handloom Ventures, DevSquirrel Technologies, and Torch-IT Electronics, among others.

• Delegates Visit: Delegates from the University of Houston, including Chancellor Dr. Renu Khator, visited the PDEU IIC facilities. They expressed interest in connecting faculty-led startups with external resources to facilitate future collaborations.

The event aimed to sensitize and inspire the PDEU community to engage with the incubator and pursue entrepreneurial journeys.This celebration aligns with the broader national objective of fostering innovation, which led to the declaration of January 16 as National Startup Day in 2022.
