IDEATHON 2024 REPORT

As a part of “Bio Impact 2024”, PDEU Innovation and Incubation Centre (PDEU IIC) joined forces with the School of Energy and Technology (SOET), PDEU to ignite student creativity and innovation through IDEATHON 2024. This fast-paced competition challenged students to work collaboratively, share ideas, and develop solutions to real-world problems within a set timeframe. By fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving under pressure, IDEATHON 2024 equipped students with valuable skills to thrive in the innovation landscape.

• Participants: The competition involved 15 teams and over 150 participants.

• Purpose: To encourage creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking under pressure while addressing specific biotechnology problem statements.

• Activities: The event included opening remarks from university leadership and presentations regarding the journey of PDEU IIC and its incubated startups.

Pitching Session and Winners: A panel of four experts evaluated the ideas presented by the 15 teams. The top six winning teams were recognized across four categories:

• Best Pitch:

  • Winner: Silk Synergy (optimizing silkworm pupae oil extraction).

  • Runner-up: H2Oasis (modern farming platforms).

• Best Presentation:

  • Winner: Bio-bandage (low-cost, natural bandage concept).

  • Runner-up: Team PDEU (benchtop health checkup device).

• Most Innovative Idea:

  • Winner: Green Card Solutions (transforming agricultural waste into biodegradable cardboard).

• Most Practical Solution:

  • Winner: Clari Tea (developing medicine from Hypericum plant shoots for anxiety and depression).

Each of the winning teams showcased exceptional creativity, presentation skills, and problem-solving prowess, rightfully earning their accolades.Their remarkable innovative concepts and solutions generated during the Ideathon offered a glimpse into the bright future of biotechnology. PDEU IIC and SOET extended their heartfelt congratulations to all winners and participants for their unwavering dedication and commitment to tackle challenges in biotechnology.

Overall, IDEATHON 2024, a part of “BIO IMPACT SYMPOSIUM” has been a stimulating and enriching experience, offering participants an opportunity to engage with real-world problems and work towards innovative solutions. All the participating teams showcased the immense potential of the next generation of biotech pioneers.
